Valley Road
Suburban chic
The project: Full downstairs renovation of large family home, including kitchen, hallway, utility room, living room, playroom/snug, study and toilet. West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire
The owners of this spacious home were looking to create a space fit for their family, and more in keeping with the style of the house.
The previous décor had left many of the large rooms feeling empty and lacking character, so the brief here was to put some warmth and heart back into the home.
Putting the fun into functional
Larger rooms were divided into zones, broken up by the clever use of bespoke carpentry and soft furnishings. New artworks, created specifically for the project, added colour and personality to the living room, while striking sea-themed wallpaper created interest in the downstairs loo.
A barely-used playroom was turned into a stylish office and consulting space, while new wooden flooring throughout the downstairs gave a sense of flow and cohesion.
Party time
Away from the everyday spaces, sits a stylish games room and bar area.
Swathed in jewel tones and sumptuous textures the room acts as a retreat from the rest of the world, where the family and their guests can truly relax. Focal points include a custom-made bar and a pair of re-upholstered vintage cinema seats.
“We love it. It feels like the space is now the way it should have always been.
It was absolutely worth the investment. The money we spent on Katy we more than got back in time. She was also able to get things quite heavily discounted for us, so I don’t think we ended up spending much more than if we’d tried to piece it all together ourselves – and the result is far better than anything we could have achieved.”
