Parkcroft House

A home with heart

The project: Full house renovation, including kitchen/diner, lounge, bathroom and bedrooms. West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire

The renovation of this four-bedroom home in the Nottingham suburbs was focused on creating spaces where the family could come together – both with each other and friends.

At its heart is a spacious kitchen/diner where neutral furnishings and floorboards are complemented by the pops of colour in the kitchen units, while feature lighting makes the central island a focal hub.

Down-time

Set to one side of the open plan kitchen/diner is a cosy snug area, perfect for retreating with a book or cuddling up on one of the plush sofas to watch TV. Creating these different zones ensures the space can accommodate all aspects of family life.

A change of pace

Away from the lively open plan kitchen, the lounge is a space designed purely for relaxation. Calming shades of blue echo those in the kitchen, but here they are used in stylish velvet sofas and plush soft furnishings.

Before Katy got involved I felt like most of the rooms in the house were OK – but only OK, and I wanted more than that. I knew I wanted to add some personality but I lacked the vision to do it myself.

It’s now a place I love coming home to, and to host in. It feels cosy, yet more refined. Functional, yet more stylish.

A space for everyone

Upstairs, the master bedroom was transformed into a safe, cocooning space, with the use of neutral colours and subtle lighting, while bespoke built-in wardrobes keep the room clutter-free.

The home office has a similar cosy feel, with a wallpaper mural creating extra interest, while in the children’s bedrooms creativity takes centre-stage. Graphic wall-art and a cabin bed with desk space below create the perfect hang-out for an avid gamer, while fun accessories and a quirky house-shaped bed frame bring character to the youngest child’s room.

I really appreciated the way Katy challenged my thinking to make the design. She not only elevated the design of the house but took the hassle out of it too as she managed all of the trades for us.
